Abby Wambach had a message for Carli Lloyd after her final appearance for the U.S. women’s national team, congratulating the star forward on her 17-year career.

Wambach and Lloyd were U.S. teammates for 10 years, from 2005 to 2015. Together, they played in three World Cups and two Olympics.

Wambach, who is first in all-time goals scored for the USWNT, paid tribute to Lloyd, who finishes her career in third on that list.

“You never stopped,” Wambach said in a video posted on Twitter. “You never stopped believing in yourself and, boy, is that a great lesson for all of us. True professional. I’m not sure anybody ever worked harder than you did. I’m not sure anybody was as committed as you were. The National Team is gonna miss you.

“You wore the red, white and blue very proudly and you made this country better.”
