Caitlin Clark wants to see one special guest at Iowa basketball’s Crossover at Kinnick.
More than 50,000 fans are expected at Kinnick Stadium to watch the Hawkeyes face DePaul in an outdoor exhibition game at 3 p.m. ET Sunday, and Clark wants to put on a show. She even pitched the idea of finding a musician to provide extra entertainment for the crowd.
“Breaking news, we haven’t,” Clark told NCAA.com. But she has one dream performer for the occasion? “Taylor Swift. I don’t think that’s on her bucket list right now.”
Still, even if Swift is unlikely to show up, Clark remains excited to make even more basketball history. The Crossover at Kinnick is set to break the record for attendance at a women’s basketball game.
“Obviously a super historic event that probably will only happen once,” Clark said. “I’ve been checking the weather, 30-day forecasts. Are those something you should trust? I don’t know, but it looks good. I’m super excited. It can’t come fast enough.”
And she’s hoping that interest in women’s basketball will continue to increase with these high-profile events. The exhibition game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
“I hope to continue to show people this is something you should continue to watch,” she said. “And not only watch Iowa women’s basketball, there’s tremendous basketball all across the country. It’s been that way for a while, I’m glad they’re just catching on. I hope they stay.
“At the end of the day, you understand this is special. Don’t be afraid of it, don’t run away from it. Just enjoy it and soak it in, because no other Iowa women’s team in history had an opportunity to be in an environment like this.
