Chicago Stars FC forward Taylor Wood headed home her first career goal in the 92nd minute of Saturday's NWSL game, scoring a 1-1 draw against Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park.
Before that, though, Portland controlled possession for most of the match.

The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute on a Maitane López own-goal. Afterwards, Jessie Fleming whipped a ball into the penalty area, before it glanced off López and rolled past the keeper. The Thorns kept pressing from there, outshooting Chicago 22-9 and holding nearly 56% of possession through 90 minutes.
Then, a set piece for Chicago swung momentum the other way. Emma Egizii delivered a corner toward the near post, and Taylor Wood rose to meet it. Her header found the net with the final whistle seconds away.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher kept Chicago in it throughout, finishing the day with seven saves while defender Bea Franklin won five aerial duels.
Weekend NWSL Scores Shift 2026 Playoff Standings
The draw adds a point for both sides in a crowded stretch of NWSL games this month. However, the result will sting most for Portland.
The Thorns are currently battling for a playoffs position in a tight points race with the North Carolina Courage, Kansas City Current, and Seattle Reign. They'll face the Orlando Pride on Saturday at 4 PM ET on Peacock.
Chicago, meanwhile, hosts the Washington Spirit next on Sunday at 5 PM ET on ESPN.
