Coco Gauff is headed to the Wimbledon 2026 semifinals. The 22-year-old rallied past close friend and No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula on Centre Court Tuesday, completing a three-set comeback to reach her first grass-court Grand Slam semifinal.
How Coco Gauff Staged a Three-Set Comeback Against Jessica Pegula
The Gauff vs. Pegula Wimbledon 2026 quarterfinal face-off finished 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 after one hour and 48 minutes. Pegula controlled the opener with consistent baseline depth, but Gauff adjusted mid-match. She converted all four of her break points across the final two sets and covered the court with purpose down the stretch.
For Gauff, the win meant more than just a semifinal berth. The result secured the first Wimbledon semifinal appearance of her career and completed her set of Grand Slam semifinals. At 22, she became just the sixth player in two decades to reach the final four at all four majors before turning 23.
"Considering I hadn't won a match on grass in two years before this tournament … I'm definitely just really happy with how I played today," Gauff said of her tournament run this year.
