Coco Gauff's push for a first Wimbledon title ended Thursday in a three-set semifinal loss to Karolina Muchova. The No. 10 seed outlasted the world No. 7 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (12-10) across two hours and 35 minutes on Centre Court.
Muchova raced through the opener, but Gauff answered with a dominant second set to force a decider. From there, the Gauff vs. Muchova match turned into a grueling battle in the London heat.
Dramatic Super Tiebreak Decides Gauff vs. Muchova Result
The third set went to a 10-point super tiebreak, where Gauff earned a match point, then netted a forehand dropshot to let Muchova back in.
Despite visible exhaustion and apparent abdominal discomfort, the 29-year-old Czech steadied herself and converted her second match point when Gauff's running forehand hit the net.
Still, the summer grass-court run marks a breakthrough for Gauff, who has struggled on the surface. The 22-year-old had never advanced past the fourth round at the All England Club before this Wimbledon 2026 tournament.
An All-Czech Wimbledon 2026 Final
Muchova, meanwhile, moves on to her first-career Wimbledon final. The match also marks her first appearance in a Grand Slam final.
She'll battle her countrywoman, Linda Noskova, on Saturday for the championship.
