The LA Sparks cruised past the Seattle Storm 90-74 on Saturday, controlling every quarter at Climate Pledge Arena. Nneka Ogwumike delivered a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead the charge, with the Sparks vs Storm gap widening each time Seattle tried to answer.
First-Half Spike Puts Sparks vs Storm Away
Rae Burrell fueled the early surge, finishing the game with 22 points. Meanwhile, Dearica Hamby's layup capped an 11-0 run that ballooned the lead to 19 points before halftime. The Seattle Storm shot just 32% from the field in the opening half, digging a hole too deep to escape.
Flau'jae Johnson tried to spark a fourth-quarter rally, pouring in 11 of her 19 points in the final frame. Dominique Malonga added 17 points and 15 rebounds in the effort. Still, Seattle's 4-of-22 clip from three kept any comeback out of reach.
When Do the LA Sparks and Seattle Storm Play Next?
The win marks LA's third in four games, moving the Sparks to 15-25. On the other end, the Storm fell to 8-32.
The LA Sparks return to action September 17th against the Dallas Wings after the FIBA World Cup break. Seattle will also play their first game back on the 17th, against the Las Vegas Aces.
