Dominique Malonga carried Seattle to a 97-88 win over Chicago, snapping an 11-game losing streak in Monday's tense Sky vs Storm clash at Climate Pledge Arena.
Dominique Malonga Makes WNBA in Sky vs Storm Battle
The 20-year-old center finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Those stats made her the youngest WNBA player with three straight 20-point games. She also crossed 300 career rebounds on the night, faster than any player in league history.
Around her, Natisha Hiedeman added 18 points and nine assists. Zia Cooke also chipped in 16 off the bench with a corner 3 late in the fourth.
Seattle needed every bit of it. After leading 47-33 at halftime, the Storm watched Chicago cut the deficit to 84-82 on a DiJonai Carrington steal and layup with three minutes left. But then the Sky turned it over, Cooke answered, and Seattle never trailed again.
"We were fed up," Malonga said of her team's win after the game.
DiJonai Carrington's Career Night Not Enough for Chicago
On the losing side, Carrington had a night of her own.
Two days after her Flagrant 2 ejection against the Indiana Fever, she poured in a career-high 26 points and went 10-for-10 from the line.
Carrington became the first player in league history to log 25-plus points, five-plus rebounds and five-plus steals off the bench. She joined reigning MVP A'ja Wilson as the only players this season to hit that line, doing it in just 27 minutes.
The Sky next face the Golden State Valkyries, Wednesday at 10 PM ET on USA network. Seattle, meanwhile, will hope to keep their momentum going against the Portland Fire on Friday at 10 PM ET on ION.
