A sports brand known for pushing boundaries, adidas is doing just that with its new women’s activewear collection, Formotion.
Created for workouts ranging from pilates to HIIT, the line was developed with feedback and insights from active women around the world. The clothes are meant to provide support while allowing the freedom to move without distraction.
Liz Cambage, three-time WNBA All-Star and an adidas athlete, headlines the new collection.
“As a female athlete, I am constantly training and basically live in fitness gear day in and day out,” she said. “I am 6-foot-8 and it’s often difficult to find something that fits me just right. For me, it’s all about being comfortable in my own skin, and the Formotion collection allows me to do just that. From an intense workout to lounging in my down time, I feel supported, look good and feel confident to just be myself.”
The activewear line continues adidas’ commitment to creating a more inclusive space for women, which includes what they wear. They used an all-female design and development team to create clothing that is crafted to the female body.
“At adidas, we believe everyone should have access to sport, and part of that means creating a diverse range of product that helps enable this. We stand for inclusion and want to encourage more women to participate in sport by creating more performance wear options that give her the confidence to perform,” said Josefine Aberg, Global Vice President of Design. “The Formotion collection was crafted by an all-female design team who turned the needs of the female athletic community into performance wear perfectly crafted for the female body. We’re excited for more women to test the product and feel comfortable in all that they do.”
Additional performance innovation includes PRIMEGREEN, which is made with a minimum of 40 percent recycled materials, developed as part of adidas’ goal to end plastic waste.
The collection is currently available online and in select stores, available in sizes XXXS-4X.
