The Courage striker’s partner, Marley Biyendolo, lives in Australia and is cited as a factor in Williams’s decision to pursue a stint in Melbourne.
“I am so excited to play for this amazing club in Melbourne,” Williams said in a statement released by the Courage. “I have always loved Australia, the culture, the vibes, and the people! I am also excited to be with my partner, Marley Biyendolo who is based in Australia, and can’t wait to play in front of our family on this side of the world!”

Williams led North Carolina in goals last season, recording seven in 18 appearances.
“We are excited for Lynn to have this opportunity to play in Australia,” Head Coach Sean Nahas said, “I also know how important it is for her off the field on a personal level with Marley in Australia. Having been away from each other due to the pandemic, this time for her is truly what’s most important, so we are happy to see this loan through.”
Melbourne Victory FC kick off their season on Dec. 5.
