The Orlando Pride have plans to hire Amanda Cromwell as their next head coach, according to a report by The Equalizer.
Cromwell would fill the vacancy left by Becky Burleigh, the team’s interim coach who withdrew her name from consideration for Orlando’s next head coach before the final game of the regular season.
Cromwell has coached UCLA for the past eight years, leading the Bruins to a national championship in 2013 during her first season at the helm. She would be one of the few coaches to make the jump from college soccer to the NWSL. The last to do so was Randy Waldrum, who joined the Houston Dash as head coach in 2014 after 14 years at Notre Dame.
Cromwell is also a founding investor in 2022 NWSL expansion club Angel City FC.
“We are in the process of determining the best head coaching candidate to lead the Orlando Pride,” a Pride spokesperson told The Equalizer. “We look forward to making that announcement at the appropriate time.”
The Pride announced on Monday that they had parted ways with executive vice president Amanda Duffy after two years.
