One month after Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore signed letters of intent to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx franchises, the sale is now official.
“Glen Taylor has reached an agreement with Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez regarding the sale and future ownership of the Timberwolves and Lynx,” read a statement from the two teams. “The transaction will close following league approval, beginning the transition of ownership and a new chapter of Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx basketball.”
The total sales price of the two teams is estimated at $1.5 billion. While Lore and Rodriguez have made public statements about the Timberwolves, they have not included the Lynx in those communications. Whether that trend continues will be something to monitor moving forward.
The Lynx host the Phoenix Mercury in their season opener Friday night at 9 p.m. ET.
