An All-Star shooting showdown is in the works, with Steph Curry set to face off against Sabrina Ionescu to crown the true 3-point shooting champion.
It’s the first time that a NBA and WNBA player will go head-to-head in the competition.
It comes after Ionescu accepted Steph Curry’s offer to face off in a 3-point challenge at the NBA All-Star game. The NBA announced Tuesday that “Stephen vs. Sabrina” will happen as part of the weekend’s lineup on Saturday night.

Last Thursday, Curry was heard saying he wanted to challenge Ionescu when he was mic’d up for the Warriors game against Sacramento. Ionescu quickly accepted the challenge, after imitating Curry’s famous lights-out pose while posing with her trophy at the WNBA All-Star game.
Ionescu scored 37 points in the WNBA’s contest last summer, besting Curry’s 31 points. It’s also an all-time record for both leagues.
Both will shoot from their respective 3-point lines and with their respective league basketballs. Each player has selected a charity, which will receive a donation for the two participating. Every shot they make will incur a donation from State Farm to the NBA Foundation “to support economic empowerment in the Black community,” according to the league.
“I’m envisioning a Bobby Riggs versus Billie Jean King from 1973, so maybe it’s the modern-day battle of the sexes,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told the Associated Press. “I know those two are close. Sabrina being from the bay, we’ve seen her at our games before and everybody loves her and pulls for her. So it’ll be fun to see them shooting against each other.”
