Tamika Catchings is stepping down from her role as Vice President for Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Indiana Fever, the team announced Monday.
Drafted third overall in the 2001 WNBA Draft, Catchings played for Indiana from 2002-2016, leading the Fever to a league title in 2012.
In 2017, the former WNBA MVP signed on to lead Indiana’s front office. The Fever struggled on the court during Catchings’s tenure, failing to make the playoffs and finishing last in the league standings with a 6-16 record on the 2021 season.
Thank you, Catch.

“Since the day we drafted her in 2001, Tamika’s unique ability to encourage, inspire, and unify Hoosiers, both on and off the court, has made her one of Indiana’s most beloved and respected civic voices,” said Herb Simon, Pacers Sports & Entertainment owner, in the team’s statement. “And as a core member of the Fever executive team since 2017, she has helped strengthen the Fever basketball brand while reinforcing the organization’s commitment to our most vulnerable communities.”
In their announcement, the Fever stated that Catchings will continue her volunteer role as Co-Chair for the 2024 NBA All-Star Board of Directors.
“While change is never easy, now it’s time to take a step back from my role as General Manager, take a well-earned rest, and prioritize my family, my philanthropy, our community, and my other passions. The opportunity to be drafted into this world-class Fever organization, to be embraced by these amazing owners, fans, coaches, teammates, and community, and to be given the chance to grow as an executive leader has been a true blessing,” said Catchings. “I’m excited for all that’s on the horizon, but whatever comes next I will always be a part of the Fever family.”
Former Fever coach Lin Dunn will take over as interim General Manager and Senior Advisor for Fever Basketball Operations in Catchings’s place.
