HARRISON, N.J — This past weekend at Red Bull Arena was a good reminder that the NWSL is still as competitive as ever.

Two of the league’s top squads, Gotham FC and the Chicago Red Stars, kicked off Sunday afternoon in a game that ended up as a tale of two halves.

Gotham FC closed out the first half with a 1-0 lead after midfielder Allie Long flicked in a perfectly placed cross.
