U.S. Women’s Volleyball announces Olympic roster

Another United States Olympic team has been named.

The U.S. women’s volleyball team revealed its final roster Monday, with two-time medalists Foluke Akinradewo Gunderson (middle blocker) and Jordan Larson (outside hitter) headlining the 12-player squad headed to Tokyo.

Both players were part of the U.S. team that won a silver medal in 2012 and a bronze in 2016.

Outside hitters Kim Hill and Kelsey Robinson will also return for their second straight Olympics.

The other eight members of the team will be making their first Olympic appearance:

  • Michelle Bartsch-Hackley, outside hitter
  • Annie Drews, opposite
  • Jordan Thompson, opposite
  • Micha Hancock, setter
  • Jordyn Poulter, setter
  • Chiaka Ogbogu, middle
  • Haleigh Washington, middle
  • Justine Wong Orantes, libero

Head coach Karch Kiraly, a three-time Olympic gold medalist as a player, will be coaching in his second Olympics after leading the women to bronze in 2016.

The U.S. women’s team, currently ranked No. 1 in the world, is vying for its first Olympic gold in Tokyo, with competition set to begin July 24.
