Crystal Dunn is back with the U.S. women’s national soccer team. She has joined the squad for its September camp three months after giving birth to her first child Marcel with her husband Pierre Soubrier.
Marcel, who was born in May, has joined Dunn in camp is adapting wonderfully to the environment, according to his mom. “Can confirm!” teammate Alex Morgan tweeted.

absolute rockstar🤩
The star defender was a critical piece of the USWNT’s 2019 World Cup-winning team and appeared in the squad’s Tokyo Olympics lineup. Dunn last donned a USWNT kit nearly a year ago, competing in the group’s friendlies against Paraguay in Sept. 2021.
The 30-year-old will not take the pitch for the USWNT’s two September friendlies against Nigeria but is in training with the team as she reacquaints herself with the national team system.

“She’s doing very well and it’s important for her to start integrating back into the environment because now she will have a little bit different challenges outside of playing soccer and we’re all excited for it,” Andonovski said ahead of September’s camp.
“Crystal is someone that will be a very, very important player for us going forward if she can get back anywhere close to her best because of how good she is on the field, but also her experience and leadership qualities off the field will be important for the younger group that we have,” Andonovski added.
Dunn has yet to take the pitch with the NWSL’s Portland Thorns this season, but her return to the USWNT and training is an excellent sign for both teams.
