In acknowledgement of her efforts, @USSoccer will make a donation to the BWPC.
According to the USSF, the award honors a player from both the USWNT and the USMNT for their off-field contributions in making a positive impact in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
As part of the award, U.S. Soccer will make a donation to the BWPC, of which Dorsey is a founding board member. The goal of the BWPC is to advance opportunities for Black girls in sport and beyond. In doing so, the organization looks to elevate the image, value and representation of Black women as athletes and leaders. Additionally, the BWPC is looking to establish a network that supports young girls and gives them more access to career paths before and after sport.
Among the organization’s accomplishments this year is a partnership with adidas that, alongside the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Black Players for Change and Musco Lighting, will lead to the construction of 12 new mini pitches in predominantly Black communities across the U.S. by 2022.
