Game 2 of the WNBA Finals between the Phoenix Mercury and Chicago Sky drew an average of 789,000 viewers on ESPN, making it the most-viewed Game 2 since the 2003 Finals.

A peak of 1 million viewers tuned in Wednesday night, with the Phoenix Mercury downing the Chicago Sky in overtime to tie the series at 1-1. The Game 2 matchup marks the most-viewed Finals game since Game 5 of the 2017 Finals.

The 2021 playoffs have been crushing ratings, with Game 4 of the semifinal series between the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun drawing an average of 491,000 viewers on ESPN, making it the most-watched non-Finals playoff game since 2015.

Tickets to Game 3 of the WNBA Finals at the Wintrust Center have already sold out, a positive sign for the game’s growth.

“I think that just says a lot where the league is and the way the league is going,” said Candace Parker of the sell out.
