For the first time in 18 years, a women’s college all-star basketball game will be played.
The game will be played at the women’s Final Four weekend on Saturday, April 6 and will be televised on ESPN2 at 3:30 p.m. ET. It’s the first time a women’s all-star basketball game has been played since 2006.
Similar to the NABC All-Star Game for men’s basketball and the college football Senior Bowl, the game is an opportunity for WNBA-eligible seniors to play in front of pro scouts, as well as fans.
Alongside the announcement was a watch list of nearly 60 eligible players, including Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese.
Those who have announced their intention to return for another year will be removed from the list, which is why Paige Bueckers is not on the list.
A panel of national media members and former coaches provided feedback to compile the list, which includes longtime coach Terri Mitchell. Mitchell will serve as Game Ambassador and help to finalize player and team rosters while overseeing the player experience on and off the court.
“Having spent my entire career so closely connected to the game of basketball, I’m very excited to join the team at Intersport in bringing the Women’s College All-Star Game back to championship weekend,” said Mitchell. “This sport continues to grow in popularity, as evidenced by rising fan attendance and increasing television viewership, so to once again have this platform for the best seniors in the game is an important reflection of women’s basketball and its upward trajectory.”
