Naomi Osaka and coach Wim Fissette have parted ways, according to a post on Fissette’s Instagram.
In a post on Wednesday, Fissette announced they would no longer be working together.
“It has been a privilege to coach Naomi since 2019 and see her grow into the Champion she has become,” he wrote. “She has inspired a whole new generation to fall in love with the game & to speak up for what they believe in and it’s been incredible to play a part in that journey.
“Thank you, Naomi. I wish you all the best and looking forward to my next chapter.”

Fissette has worked with Osaka since the end of 2019 and the beginning of the 2020 season. Under his tutelage, Osaka won two of her four Grand Slam titles — the 2020 US Open and 2021 Australian Open. The former world No. 1 later took a break from tennis, citing mental health, and fell as low as No. 85 in the rankings.
She’s had a decent start to the year, reaching the final at the Miami Open where she was beaten by a red-hot Iga Swiatek.
Having dealt with an Achilles injury since Roland Garros in May, Osaka skipped Wimbledon but is expected to make her return in two weeks in San Jose, having accepted a wild card to the event.
