Anett Kontaveit ended her season on a high, defeating No. 1 seed Simona Halep 6-2, 6-3 in the Transylvania Open final on Sunday.

The victory marks Kontaveit’s fourth title of the season, all of which came in the last ten weeks on tour. The No.2 seed from Estonia has won 26 of her last 28 matches, riding a 10-game winning streak to capture the Transylvania Open trophy.

Kontaveit didn’t drop a single set on her way to Sunday’s final, where she cruised past Halep, firing 21 winners to her opponent’s nine.

“I’m kind of speechless, it’s been such a good week,” said Kontaveit after the match, “Simona, you’re such a role model, I looked up to you so many years, it was an honor to share the court with you.”

The win in Cluj secures Kontaveit the final spot in the WTA Finals and propels the 25-year-old into the Top 10 for the first time in her career.
