Angel Reese left Atlanta's Sunday victory over Chicago with a left leg injury that cut short her fourth-quarter Sky vs Dream action.
Angel Reese Injury Details: What Happened in the Sky vs Dream Game?
Just 15 seconds into the final period, the forward's left knee buckled on a jump stop near the basket. She briefly stood back up, then went down again. Medical staff evaluated Reese on the court before she returned to the bench with ice wrapped around her leg. The Dream ruled her out for the remainder of the contest.
Before the injury ended her night, Reese posted eight points and five rebounds in 20 minutes.
Sunday's setback marks the second leg injury Reese has dealt with in the span of a week. An ankle issue briefly sidelined her earlier in July. Head coach Karl Smesko said afterward that Reese wanted to keep playing but was held back due to visible pain.
Still, Atlanta held on without its star. Guard Jordin Canada drove for a game-winning layup as time expired, sealing the win against the Chicago Sky at 93-91. The result pushed the Dream to 16-10 on the season.
Atlanta has not yet provided an official update on Reese's timeline, but the Dream's upcoming schedule offers extra rest before her next game. Reese currently leads the WNBA with 11.8 rebounds per game and was recently named a WNBA All-Star in her first season with Atlanta.
The Dream will next take on the Dallas Wings on July 29 at 8 PM ET on USA network.
