Carli Lloyd kicked off her farewell tour with a bang Thursday night, scoring five goals in the USWNT’s 9-0 win over Paraguay in an international friendly.
Lloyd’s first two goals came in the first five minutes of play. The 39-year-old forward met a corner kick for a header goal in the third minute and then redirected a cross from Mallory Pugh just beyond the 6-yard box in the sixth minute.
Lloyd tallied two more before the half and then one more in the 61st minute.
With her five-goal performance, Lloyd tied the USWNT’s single-game scoring record and now leads the team with 10 goals this year. She also became the 10th player in USWNT history to score five goals in a game.

Lloyd’s 24th multi-goal game is the fifth-most in USWNT history. She’s also the oldest USWNT player to score five goals in a game, after already making history as the oldest to score in any game.
Lloyd now has 133 career international goals, surpassing Kristine Lilly (130) for third all-time with the USWNT, behind Mia Hamm (158) and Abby Wambach (184). Lloyd, who announced her retirement from soccer last month, has three more games left to play with the national team in the fall tour.
