NWSL players Olivia Moultrie and Jaedyn Shaw have been named to the U.S. women’s youth national team roster for the 2022 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in August.

Moultrie, 16, was a member of the United States’ U20 Concacaf W Championship team earlier this year. She appeared in all seven games and tallied two goals en route to the title.

Last year, Moultrie signed with the Portland Thorns, making her the youngest player in NWSL history. During the 2022 season, she’s tallied two goals and two assists through eight games to become the youngest goal scorer in NWSL history.

Shaw, meanwhile, recently joined San Diego Wave FC through the discovery process. The 17-year-old is coming off of a win at the Sud Ladies Cup with the U-20 team, where she scored two goals in three matches.

With both Shaw and Moultrie on the roster, this year’s squad has the most professionals ever named to a U.S. roster for a FIFA youth Women’s World Cup.

The tournament will run from Aug. 10-28, with the USYNT beginning play on Aug. 11 against Ghana at 1 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 2. In the group stage, the team also will face the Netherlands on Aug. 14 and Japan on Aug. 17, with games set for 7 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 2.

The top two finishers from each of the four groups in the tournament will advance to the knockout stage. The quarterfinals will take place on Aug. 20 and 21, and the semifinals will take place on Aug. 25. The championship game and the third-place match will be held on Aug. 28.
