Geno Auriemma provided an update on injured UConn stars Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd ahead of the team’s Sunday game against Creighton.

The Huskies have not played since Dec. 19 after a series of contests were postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

Bueckers has not taken the court since injuring her knee during UConn’s Dec. 5 contest against Notre Dame. The sophomore star underwent surgery to repair an anterior tibial plateau fracture on Dec. 14, with an eight-week recovery period post-operation.

Auriemma gave an update on Bueckers’s rehab, telling media on Friday that the guard “feels good, looks good.”

“She’s probably the only one happy those games were postponed,” said Auriemma of UConn’s amended schedule.

The UConn coach has also had to contend with star freshman Fudd’s foot injury. The top recruit hasn’t played since November and has yet to start running. Auriemma predicts Fudd may begin running “next week.”

Junior forward Aubrey Griffin has been away from the team as well, dealing with a disc injury to her back. “I don’t envision her being back the rest of the season,” said Geno.

Only seven players are expected to be available for Sunday’s game against Creighton.
