Houston Dash’s Bridgette Andrzejewski Announces Retirement

Houston Dash forward Bridgette Andrzejewski has announced her retirement from professional soccer.

The move comes one year after she was drafted with the ninth pick in the second round (18th overall) of the 2020 NWSL College Draft.

Andrzejewski scored 28 goals and tallied 21 assists in her four-year career at the University of North Carolina. She made her professional debut with the Dash in the first game of the 2020 Fall Series versus the North Carolina Courage.

A post on Andrzejewski’s Instagram page suggests that family may have been part of the reason behind her decision. While the decision was hard to make, she calls it “100% the right one.”

“I know that my heart is here in Baltimore surrounded by my family and it’s time for me to pursue new passions,” Andrzejewski said in the post. “Thank you to everyone for all the support and love throughout the years of my soccer journey. I’m extremely proud of everything I have accomplished in soccer and incredibly excited for my next steps in my life.”
