Ebony Salmon has only needed a month in the NWSL to put the rest of the league on notice.

The 20-year-old made waves when she first signed a two-year contract with Racing Louisville FC, leaving her FAWSL club, Bristol City, back in May.

Since joining the league in June, Salmon has lived up to the hype. The English striker made quite the entrance when she scored a goal in her first minute on the pitch for Racing Louisville.

Less than a week later, Salmon found the back of the net again, putting an exclamation mark on her first NWSL start.

Most recently, Salmon made headlines again when she slotted home a go-ahead goal in Louisville’s July 10 draw against the Pride. With the composure of a seasoned veteran, Salmon bodied off Ali Krieger, one of the most experienced defenders in the league, to beat Ashlyn Harris for the clinical finish.

Salmon now boasts three goals in her five NWSL appearances, ranking eighth in the league for goals scored. With international players away in Tokyo, the Olympic break could provide an opportunity for Salmon to move up the goals rankings and solidify her place as an NWSL star.
