Lauren Coughlin will represent Team USA at the 2026 Solheim Cup after clinching her spot Monday, the LPGA confirmed.
The 33-year-old Virginia native claimed one of nine automatic bids reserved for the top of the US points tally. Her steady rise up the LPGA rankings this season did most of the heavy lifting.
How the LPGA Rankings System Sets 2026 Solheim Cup Teams
Player points accumulate across the LPGA schedule, with majors scoring the biggest rankings boosts.
Coughlin banked enough to seal her position before the window closes at the CPKC Women's Open, teeing off August19th in Edmonton. Nelly Korda is already locked in beside her among the automatic qualifiers.
From here, the focus shifts to the captains. Angela Stanford still holds three at-large picks for Team US, while Team Europe's Anna Nordqvist controls four selections of her own.
Both captains are expected to reveal their choices shortly after qualifying wraps this weekend. That will fill out the Solheim Cup teams headed to the Netherlands next month.
LPGA Schedule Shifts to the Netherlands
The international women's golf tournament tees off September 7th at Bernardus Golf in North Brabant.
Team USA arrives as the defending champion after edging Europe in 2024. That win ended a seven-year drought for the US. Coughlin will hope to contribute to her team's bid for yet another Solheim Cup trophy this time around.
