The most-watched game of the Women’s College World Series outdrew the most-watched men’s game by a small amount this year.

Oklahoma’s title-clinching win against Texas drew a peak of 2.1 million viewers and an average of 1.74 million viewers. In comparison, the most-watched men’s game — Saturday’s championship series Game 1 between Ole Miss and Oklahoma — drew a peak of 1.9 million and an average of 1.63 million viewers.

That number makes Oklahoma’s championship win the most-watched college softball or baseball game of 2022.

The averages for the baseball and softball championship series were similar, with the women drawing an average of 1.7 million viewers across the series and the men drawing 1.6 million.

The men’s championship series closed out the most-watched NCAA baseball tournament in four years.

The overall viewership for the softball tournament was down slightly from last year. This year’s tournament – while having a higher ceiling – averaged 1 million viewers compared to 1.2 million last year.
