Back-to-back national champion Oklahoma softball finished the season atop the USA Softball’s collegiate top 25 poll.
The Sooners went wire-to-wire as No. 1 to cap a dominant season, topping the rankings for 29 consecutive weeks. They also finished as the wire-to-wire No. 1 in the Softball America poll and the USA Today/NFCA poll.
Throughout the season, the Sooners registered 41 run-rule victories, 33 shutouts, eight no-hitters and hit home runs in 56 of their games.
Texas finished at No. 2 in the USA Softball poll to cap a run that included the program’s first-ever trip to the championship series. The Longhorns became the first unseeded team to do so.
UCLA finished third in the poll, while Oklahoma State finished in fourth.
Oklahoma’s most recent title marked the sixth in program history and the second in a row.
And despite the departure of all-star slugger Jocelyn Alo, the team appears to be reloading mere days into the offseason. Michigan standout and former Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Alex Storako announced Monday that she would be transferring to Norman.
Storako has one year of eligibility remaining and ranked sixth in strikeouts last season with 300. In four seasons, she posted a 1.71 career ERA. So expect Oklahoma to stand pat at No. 1 heading into next season.
