âWe are thrilled to add a person of Camiâs caliber to the Current executive team,â said Co-Owner Angie Long. âCami is a natural-born leader with tremendous soccer knowledge and an expansive soccer network. As we continue to strive to set the standard for our sport and our league, we have no doubt that Cami will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.â
Levin is a former NWSL player who spent time with Sky Blue FC, the Orlando Pride and the Houston Dash. Sheâs the second former player to become a general manager in the league this offseason after NJ/NY Gotham FC named former USWNT player Yael Averbuch West as the teamâs permanent GM.
After retiring in 2018, Levin began a career as a sports executive focused on athlete representation and talent contract negotiations.
She joins Kansas City after serving as Vice President of Blueprint Sports & Media Entertainment. While there, she was responsible for all athlete-related activities with the company. Prior to her work with Blueprint, Levin served as Manager of Talent Development for WWE, handling all aspects of talent recruitment and management.
âIt is an honor to join the Kansas City Current as General Manager,â said Levin. âI am thrilled to be a part of an organization with an unwavering vision of becoming a global leader, not only in womenâs soccer, but in sports. The Longs and Brittany Matthews continue to build an organization with a strong commitment towards a âplayer-firstâ approach, starting with significant investment in the organization and in Kansas City.
âAs a former NWSL player, I sincerely appreciate and respect the history of this league and believe in its bright future with KC leading the way. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to joining the team.â
Levin will begin work with the Current on January 15. NWSL preseason begins February 1 with the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup beginning March 19.
