San Diego Wave FC went second in Thursday’s 2022 NWSL Expansion Draft, adding to a roster that already includes U.S. women’s national team stars Alex Morgan and Abby Dahlkemper.

The Wave later traded Mewis to Gotham FC in exchange for $200,000 in allocation money. The club also made its deal for Morgan official and acquired the rights to defender Christen Westphal and forward Amirah Ali in a trade with the Portland Thorns.
