WNBA free agent superstar Breanna Stewart has reached an agreement on a one-year supermax deal to return to the Seattle Storm, the franchise that drafted her No. 1 overall in 2016 and where she won two titles, league sources tell @YahooSports.
The move comes after Stewart, an unrestricted free agent, took an in-person meeting with the New York Liberty.
Stewart has been with the Storm since 2016, when they drafted her No. 1 overall. In her time with the team, she has won two WNBA titles (2018, 2020). She was named regular-season and WNBA Finals MVP in 2018 and was once again named Finals MVP in 2020.
Through her five seasons, Stewart has averaged 20.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks.
She will play at least one more season with Seattle teammate Sue Bird, who announced her return for another season in January.
