Rose Lavelle added “karaoke star” to her resume Monday night as she belted out a rendition of Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” at the Player’s Ball, an event celebrating the historic equal pay deal the U.S women’s national team signed earlier this year.
Lavelle, who has been a member of the USWNT since 2017, made her breakthrough for the squad in 2019, when she scored a goal against the Netherlands that helped the United States win the World Cup.

She’s made 84 appearances for the United States, scoring 22 goals and dishing out 17 assists as a midfielder. The 27-year-old already is a cornerstone of the USWNT despite playing in just one World Cup.
The 2023 World Cup in Australia will be her second appearance on soccer’s biggest stage. But stage fright wasn’t an issue for Lavelle during her first World Cup, nor was it a problem during her karaoke performance.
Christen Press and Ashlyn Harris — who announced her retirement at the Player’s Ball — could be seen cheering for Lavelle in the front row as she serenaded other members of the USWNT and NWSL.

It was a lighthearted moment that may have come at the right time.
The USWNT struggled through the end of the year, losing three games in a row — to England, Spain and Germany — before closing out their slate of friendlies with a 2-1 win over Germany on Sunday.
The moment also comes at the end of an NWSL season that saw a league-wide and ongoing reckoning, fueled by the Sally Yates report, which explored systemic abuse among coaches within the league.
